Justice Minister: Al-Burhan Issues Decision to Drop Cases Against Dialogue Participants

Minister of Justice Dr. Abdalla Dirif affirmed that President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan had responded to the demands of the National Initiative for Sudanese-Sudanese Dialogue by providing guarantees, including the dropping of cases against any Sudanese residing abroad who enters or returns to the country to participate in the Sudanese-Sudanese Dialogue.
Speaking at a press conference held at the ministry’s headquarters in Khartoum on Tuesday, the minister announced that TSC President had issued Decision No. 363 of 2026, ordering the dismissal of criminal cases against dialogue participants, in recognition that national consensus through Sudanese-Sudanese Dialogue is the only way to rebuild the state.
He said the decisions reflect the state’s commitment to supporting and facilitating the national initiative, stressing that the state’s role is limited to providing guarantees, facilitation and protection to ensure the dialogue remains independent and owned by Sudanese, without interfering in determining its agenda, participants or outcomes.
The minister said the decision provides for the dismissal of all cases filed by state agencies against any Sudanese residing abroad who enters or returns to the country to participate in the dialogue.
“We have followed the launch of an independent national initiative to prepare for Sudanese-Sudanese Dialogue,” the minister said, explaining that the initiative responds to the aspirations of the Sudanese people for a genuine national process that puts their concerns and priorities first, ends the war and rebuilds Sudan on nationally agreed foundations.
