
Minister of Transport, Eng. Abu Bakr Abu Al-Gasim, has announced that initial estimates of the extent of the vandalization caused by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia's violations in the transport sector amounted to $2.7 billion, including damage to infrastructure, facilities, and transport vessels for the ministry's various units, sections, and companies. This came during a briefing conference of the Ministry of Culture and Information, organized by the Sudan News Agency (SUNA), held Sunday in the General Intelligence Service hall in Portsudan, to discuss the militia's violations of the transport sector and the ministry's plans and programs for post-war reconstruction.
The Minister of Transport emphasized the ministry's commitment to integrating maritime, river, land, air, and railway transport chains to build efficient transportation systems that support Sudan's unity and renaissance. He explained that the priority is the return of the diaspora and the creation of a suitable environment for the return of Sudanese from asylum, displacement, shelters, and camps. Engineer Abu Al-Gasim asserted the need for gradual construction and reconstruction based on a comprehensive vision and approach. The Minister pledged promising future achievements that will bring joy to the Sudanese people.
