Minister of Agriculture Reviews Bilateral Cooperation with Mauritania

Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation, Prof. Ismat Gurashi Abdullah, met Mohamed Ahmedou Ould M’hemeid, Minister of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty and President of the 34th Session of the Regional Conference of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) for Africa, on the margins of the conference held in the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.
The Minister praised Mauritania for hosting the conference and congratulated Ould M’hemeid on assuming its presidency. He highlighted Sudan’s natural resources, including fertile land, rivers, groundwater, rainfall, and a diverse climate suitable for various crops and grains.
The meeting reviewed bilateral cooperation opportunities between Sudan and Mauritania, which could be enhanced through memoranda of understanding and executive programs. The Minister also expressed Sudan’s readiness to contribute to developing Mauritania’s agricultural sector through capacity-building, knowledge exchange, and strengthening smart investment partnerships, with increased private sector involvement in both countries.
