Finance Minister Arrives in Brussels for 121st OACPS Ministerial Council Meeting

Minister of Finance, Dr. Gebreil Ibrahim, arrived in Brussels on Wednesday leading Sudan's delegation to the 121st Ordinary Session of the Ministerial Council of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS), taking place on July 15–16.
The meeting brings together ministers and representatives of OACPS member states to discuss a range of issues related to the organization's work and ways to strengthen cooperation among its members. The agenda also includes discussions on the partnership with the European Union under the Samoa Agreement, signed in November 2023 between the European Union and its member states on one side and the OACPS member states on the other.
On the sidelines of the meeting, the Minister is scheduled to meet with OACPS Secretary-General Moussa Batraki to discuss prospects for expanding cooperation between Sudan and the organization, including technical assistance and capacity-building in line with the government's priorities for economic recovery and sustainable development.
At the bilateral level, Dr. Ibrahim is also expected to hold a series of meetings with participating ministers to explore ways of enhancing economic and financial cooperation, exchanging expertise, and strengthening partnerships that serve mutual interests.
The Minister's participation reflects the Sudanese government's commitment to strengthening its engagement in regional and international forums and promoting multilateral cooperation in support of development, stability, and closer collaboration with regional and international partners.
The Ministerial Council is also expected to adopt a resolution granting Sudan a full or partial waiver of its outstanding debt to the organization, amounting to US$1 million, in recognition of the exceptional economic circumstances facing the country as a result of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) rebellion.

During Visit to Giad, Al-Gezira Wali Backs Establishment of Free Zone in Northern Al-Gezira

Al-Gezira State Wali Al-Tahir Ibrahim Al-Khair underscored the role of the Giad Industrial Group in advancing industrial indigenization in Sudan. He praised the group's return to production after its systematic destruction and looting, referring to its suffering at the hands of the Dagalo family militia, announcing his support for the establishment of a free zone in northern Gezira.
The remarks came during the Wali’s inspection visit on Tuesday to Giad Industrial City in Al-Kamleen locality, where he met with the group's senior management in the presence of Atef Mohamed Ibrahim Abu Shouk, State Minister of Finance, Economy, and Public Service.
For his part, Engineer Al-Khair Al-Tahir, Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Giad Industrial Group, announced the resumption of the group's operations and said it is ready to support the state through its ten companies by providing vehicles, agricultural machinery, medical and school furniture, and electrical cables.
Meanwhile, Al-Gezira State Minister of Finance welcomed Giad's return to production and called for closer cooperation between the state government and the group. He also announced the signing of a contract with Giad to supply 10 tractors with trailers for waste collection and transportation across the state.

TSC President Arrives in Doha to Offer Condolences on Death of Former Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani

President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, arrived on Tuesday in the Qatari capital, Doha, to offer condolences on the death of the late His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the former Emir of the State of Qatar.
His Excellency offered his condolences to His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar, and members of the ruling family at Lusail Palace on Tuesday.
The TSC President conveyed the deep condolences of the Sudanese leadership and people to the Qatari leadership and people over this great loss, affirming Sudan's solidarity and support for the leadership and people of the sisterly State of Qatar during this difficult time.
He praised the historic and honorable contributions of the late Emir, His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, highlighting his role in achieving development, progress, and prosperity for the State of Qatar.
The President expressed Sudan's deep appreciation for the late Emir's positions in support of Sudan and its causes at regional and international forums, as well as his efforts to elevate bilateral relations to strategic levels. He stressed that the late Emir's generous deeds will remain forever remembered by the Sudanese people, who deeply valued and will never forget his noble stances, including his continued support for humanitarian efforts in Sudan and his contributions to peace initiatives.
Al-Burhan reaffirmed the shared commitment to developing and strengthening the deep-rooted relations between the two sisterly countries under the wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, in a way that serves the aspirations of both peoples, while highlighting the historic ties that bind them.
For his part, the Emir of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, expressed his appreciation for the visit, emphasizing the close fraternal relations and enduring bonds between the two sisterly peoples, and his hope for further expanding cooperation.
The TSC President was accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ambassador Mohieddin Salem, Minister of Finance Dr. Jibril Ibrahim, and Director General of the General Intelligence Service General Ahmed Ibrahim Mufaddal.

Seventh Session of Sudan-Brazil Political Consultation Committee Held in Brasilia

The Republic of Sudan and the Federative Republic of Brazil held the seventh session of the Political Consultation Committee between the two countries in the Brazilian capital, Brasilia.
The Sudanese delegation was headed by Ambassador Muawiyah Osman Khalid, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, while the Brazilian delegation was led by Ambassador Carlos Duarte, Director-General for Africa and the Middle East at the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The meeting was attended by Ambassador Dr. Ahmed Al-Tijani Suwar, Ambassador of the Republic of Sudan to Brazil.
During the talks, the two sides reviewed bilateral relations and explored ways to further develop them across various fields. They emphasized their commitment to strengthening political consultation mechanisms, expanding economic, trade, and investment cooperation, and accelerating the implementation of signed agreements and memorandums of understanding.
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation briefed the Brazilian side on developments in Sudan, including the repercussions of the war, its humanitarian and economic impacts, and the destruction of infrastructure. He also presented the Government of Sudan's vision for achieving peace, restoring security and stability, and its position on related regional and international initiatives.
The Sudanese side expressed its interest in expanding cooperation with Brazil, particularly in agriculture, agricultural research, higher education, health, and livestock. It also highlighted the importance of benefiting from Brazilian expertise in reconstruction efforts, strengthening public-private partnerships, and increasing trade and investment between the two countries.
The talks also addressed cooperation in climate change, scientific research, and culture. Both sides stressed the importance of implementing joint programs, enhancing academic cooperation between universities and research institutions, and coordinating on environmental issues of mutual interest, including the outcomes of the 30th Conference of the Parties (COP30) and preparations for the 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17).
For his part, the head of the Brazilian delegation reaffirmed Brazil's commitment to developing bilateral relations with Sudan, continuing cooperation in political, economic, and cultural fields, and supporting reconstruction efforts. He expressed his country's readiness to expand training and capacity-building programs and to send experts in agriculture, agricultural research, and livestock to support development efforts in Sudan.
At the conclusion of the session, both sides emphasized the importance of maintaining political dialogue and coordination in regional and international forums, as well as activating bilateral agreements. They agreed to hold the eighth session of the Political Consultation Committee in Khartoum at a date to be determined through diplomatic channels.

Cabinet Stresses the Need to Ensure the Success of the Summer Agricultural Season

The Council of Ministers held its regular meeting on Monday in Khartoum under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris.
Minister of Culture, Information and Tourism Khalid Al-Eisir said in a press statement that, as part of strengthening coordination and cooperation between the executive branch and the Public Prosecution, the Cabinet received a briefing from Attorney General Intisar Ahmed Abdel Aal on the work of the Public Prosecution, its development efforts, and its role, particularly in highlighting the violations committed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia at the international level through participation in forums that shed light on crimes committed against the Sudanese people. He said the Attorney General affirmed the Public Prosecution's cooperation with executive institutions in all matters that serve Sudan's interests and help expose violations that contravene international law.
Al-Eiser said the Cabinet also received a briefing from Khartoum State Wali Ahmed Othman Hamza on the state government's efforts to combat certain negative phenomena.
He added that the Cabinet discussed the financial entitlements of employees in Kassala State, ways to address breaches along the Gash River, and issues related to smuggling and drug trafficking in Kassala and several other border states.
The Minister said the Cabinet reviewed the performance report for the 2025–2026 winter agricultural season, the preparedness plan for the 2026–2027 summer agricultural season, and the operational challenges facing the Gezira Scheme. The Cabinet stressed the need to provide all the requirements necessary to ensure the success of the summer agricultural season.
Al-Eiser noted that the Cabinet also discussed a number of other issues related to digital transformation and ways to modernize state institutions in line with contemporary requirements.
He added that the Cabinet discussed several issues related to citizens' livelihoods, noting that efforts would continue day after day to achieve the level of progress to which all Sudanese people aspire.
Al-Eiser further said that Minister of Justice Dr. Abdullah Mohamed Dirif presented the 2026 Miscellaneous Amendments Bill, adding that the Cabinet directed that the observations raised by several members regarding the draft law be taken into account.
