TSC President Rules Out Compromise, Vows to Eliminate the Militia

President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council TSCPresident of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) and Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, affirmed that the country is proceeding along the same path it set on April 15, the path of truth and dignity, noting strong popular support for the armed forces in an existential battle. He added that confidence in Allah remains high and that victory is certain because we stand with truth.
Speaking to worshippers after Friday prayer at Al-Sheikh Abu Gorun Mosque in East Nile locality, Al-Burhan acknowledged the hardship faced by citizens, stressing that once the rebellion is defeated, such suffering will come to an end. He stated that there are no middle or grey solutions, asserting that the only option is to eliminate the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia and eradicate it from all parts of Sudan.
Al-Burhan said that anyone claiming neutrality on this issue has, in effect, abandoned the truth, referring to atrocities committed by the militia in El Obeid, including killings, starvation, and attacks on civilian infrastructure such as electricity, fuel, and water stations. He added that this is not a war against the government but a war against the Sudanese people, stressing the need for all to move forward toward ending the militia’s rebellion against the state. He further stated that those who argue the war will not end through military victory are mistaken, insisting that victory is coming and will be achieved by the armed forces. He warned that if the war does not end with a decisive victory for the army and the people, the militia would return to the scene and again harm Sudanese citizens.
TSC President also said that any talks that do not include dismantling the militia and surrendering its weapons will not be accepted, emphasizing the need to hold accountable all those who have committed crimes against the Sudanese people. He praised strong support of the Sudanese people for the armed forces in the “Battle of Dignity,” saying the strength of the military comes from the will of the people, and that armies everywhere carry a sacred status among their nations. He also criticized some Sudanese politicians calling for the dissolution of the armed forces under the pretext of reform, saying such matters are not within their mandate.
Al-Burhan added that the “crawling strategy” is ongoing and will achieve its objectives, noting that the armed forces had expelled the rebels from Al-Gezira, White Nile, and Khartoum, and would similarly force them out of Darfur and Kordofan. He paid tribute to the martyrs of Sudan and those who fell in the “Battle of Dignity,” praising their sacrifices for the dignity and honor of the Sudanese people. He also commended the role of Sufi orders in promoting the values of moderate Islam.
TSC President noted that most Sudanese belong to these peaceful and virtuous orders, which consistently call for truth and virtue, adding that Sudanese society is neither extremist nor divisive, but rather a people of harmony, compassion, and solidarity.

In a statement to the Sudan News Agency (SUNA), the Minister affirmed the Government of Sudan’s commitment to safeguarding the lives of its citizens across all parts of the country, noting its adherence to applicable legal and international procedures in such cases.

Foreign Ministry: Statements by Trump Adviser on Rejection of US Initiative “Imprecise”

MOFAMinistry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has refuted the statement made by the US President’s adviser for Arab and African affairs, Massad Boulos, before the UN Security Council, in which he claimed that the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) had rejected a proposal paper submitted to it.
The Ministry stated that the US official’s remarks were “inaccurate” and do not reflect the official positions of the Government of Sudan and its sovereign institutions, noting that the government had engaged constructively with Boulos’ proposals and provided a detailed response within ongoing consultations with the US administration, underscoring Sudan’s openness to any sincere and transparent efforts aimed at achieving peace and safeguarding national interests.
The statement highlighted the government’s positive record in responsibly engaging with initiatives to end the war, citing the signing of the Jeddah Declaration in May 2023 and adherence to several humanitarian truces that were violated by the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia, as well as the government’s submission of a formal initiative to the UN Security Council on 22 December 2025 aimed at protecting civilians and creating conditions for a cessation of hostilities.
The Ministry stressed that any serious efforts to end the war in Sudan must address its root causes, foremost among them the immediate cessation of external supply of weapons and mercenaries to the militia, and the drying up of political and diplomatic support that enables it to continue committing violations and atrocities against innocent civilians.
In conclusion, the Ministry called on the international community and regional actors to engage with the realities on the ground with objectivity and realism, stressing that Sudan is facing a direct aggression backed by foreign sponsorship through a terrorist militia, which requires a firm international stance that supports national state institutions and strengthens prospects for stability.

The event brought together Sudanese and German experts, academics, and researchers in the fields of archaeology and cultural heritage.
In her remarks, the ambassador underscored the importance of the event in strengthening academic and cultural cooperation between Sudan and Germany, commending research partnerships that have, for decades, supported archaeological studies and the preservation of Sudan's cultural heritage.
She noted that Sudan is facing major challenges threatening its cultural and archaeological heritage due to damage inflicted on archaeological sites, museums, and cultural institutions by the war, in addition to growing environmental and climate-related risks, calling for intensified national and international efforts to safeguard this unique human legacy.
The ambassador called on the international community, universities, research centres, museums, and development partners to support Sudan's national institutions, particularly the National Corporation for Antiquities and Museums, through documentation programmes, digital preservation initiatives, museum rehabilitation, capacity-building, and the strengthening of sustainable management plans for archaeological sites.
She also stressed the importance of continuing scientific and research cooperation between Sudan and German and international academic institutions, expressing hope that the event's deliberations would lead to practical initiatives and partnerships supporting efforts to protect and restore Sudan's cultural heritage.
The event featured leading Sudanese and German experts and researchers who discussed current challenges facing Sudan's heritage and ways to strengthen scientific and institutional cooperation to preserve it.
Joining the ambassador at the meetings and accompanying sessions was the embassy's cultural affairs officer, First Secretary Sami Al-Haj Mohamed Salih.
"Sudan Day" is held annually in Berlin with broad participation from academics, researchers, and specialists in Sudanese studies and archaeology. The event aims to highlight Sudan's civilizational and cultural legacy and promote international scientific cooperation in research and heritage preservation. Sudan's mission in Berlin has maintained an active presence at the event, strengthening coordination and cooperation with the organizers in support of efforts to promote Sudan and its rich heritage and to advance academic and cultural partnerships between Sudan and Germany.

The Sudanese Mission in Berlin, in cooperation with the German-Arab Chamber of Industry and Commerce, also organised a roundtable entitled, "Sudan: Partnership for Recovery, Reconstruction and Rehabilitation." During the event, representatives of Sudan's private sector highlighted the country's economic potential and available investment opportunities, drawing interest from German and Arab companies and economic institutions.
The participation forms part of the Sudanese Mission's efforts in Berlin to enhance Sudan's economic presence and expand prospects for cooperation and investment with international partners, ahead of an anticipated visit by a delegation of German businessmen and parliamentarians to Sudan during the second half of this year.

The Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) held its regular meeting on Wednesday, chaired by its President, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, during which it reviewed the overall situation in the country, particularly developments in the security and economic sectors.
At the outset of the meeting, the Council directed that urgent measures be taken to address challenges related to the provision of essential services to citizens.
The meeting also discussed ongoing preparations for the Sudanese-Sudanese dialogue, aimed at reaching a comprehensive national vision to address the country’s current crisis.
The Council further reviewed violations and atrocities committed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia in the states of Darfur and Kordofan as well as the Blue Nile region.
The Sovereignty Council reassured citizens of the ability of the Armed Forces and supporting forces to maintain security and stability across the country, urging the public not to be swayed by misleading rumours aimed at undermining security and stability.

MoU Signed Between Central Bank of Sudan and Central Bank of AzerbaijanAs part of efforts by the Central Bank of Sudan (CBOS) to open up to the external world and reintegrate into the global banking system, and in the presence of Sudan’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Anas Al-Tayib Al-Jailani, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on banking cooperation was signed on Wednesday in the Azerbaijani capital, Baku, between the Central Bank of Sudan and the Central Bank of Azerbaijan.
During the signing ceremony, Governor of the Central Bank of Sudan, Amina Mirghani, stressed the importance of the historic relations between Sudan and Azerbaijan, and the need to develop them in a way that serves mutual interests and opens broader prospects for economic and trade cooperation. She highlighted opportunities in exports and imports and mutual economic exchange.
For his part, Governor of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan, Taleh Kazimov, welcomed the Sudanese delegation and reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s support for Sudan in regional and international forums. He said the meeting and the signing of the memorandum represent a first step toward building stronger relations that serve mutual commercial and economic interests. He also called on Azerbaijani banks to establish correspondent banking relations with Sudanese banks to facilitate cross-border payments.

He further affirmed readiness to transfer expertise and share experience with staff of the Central Bank of Sudan and commercial banks through short-term training programmes and professional attachments at the central bank, aimed at strengthening practical training.
The memorandum establishes a general framework for developing correspondent banking relations, exploring the opening of branches and banking windows for commercial banks in both Sudan and Azerbaijan, in addition to banking training and exchange of expertise.
The signing comes within the framework of growing bilateral relations between the Republic of Sudan and the Republic of Azerbaijan, representing a qualitative addition to the path of economic and financial cooperation between the two friendly countries.

Sudan’s Ambassador to Germany Explores Partnerships with UN Agencies and Humanitarian Organizations

As part of Sudan’s diplomatic outreach in Berlin, the ambassador participated in a joint meeting bringing together UN agencies and programmes based in Bonn and diplomatic missions accredited to Germany. The event featured addresses by the UN Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, as well as a representative of the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Ambassador Ilham held bilateral talks with several UN agencies, focusing on support for recovery efforts, voluntary return programmes for internally displaced persons and refugees, assistance to host communities, and the rehabilitation of the health, education, electricity, and water sectors.
The discussions included representatives of the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme, UN Women in Bonn, UNESCO’s International Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (UNEVOC), the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), and the Global Water Operators’ Partnerships Alliance.
Areas of cooperation discussed included strengthening the capacities of Sudanese volunteers, expanding their participation in reconstruction efforts, revitalizing vocational training centres, and supporting water and sanitation services across Sudan.
The ambassador also met with the Director for the Sahel, Horn of Africa, and Eastern Europe at Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development in Bonn. The talks reviewed programmes being implemented in Sudan through UN agencies and explored ways to expand Sudanese-German cooperation in reconstruction and development.
The ambassador also met with humanitarian organizations operating in Sudan, as well as German business leaders and companies, to discuss investment opportunities and enhanced cooperation, particularly in solar energy and humanitarian support. Participants expressed readiness to expand their activities and projects in Sudan.

Sudan Welcomes Framework Peace Agreement Between United States and Iran

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the ministry expressed hope that the agreement would mark an important step toward strengthening security and stability in the region and contribute to advancing the principles of peace, development, and prosperity for the benefit of the Middle East and the wider international community.
The ministry also commended the efforts of friendly and brotherly countries that helped create favorable conditions for reaching the agreement, particularly the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the State of Qatar, as well as other parties that played constructive roles in bridging differences and supporting peaceful settlement efforts.

Last week, Sudan’s Ambassador to Germany, Ilham Ibrahim Ahmed, met with the Global Alliance of Water Operators’ Partnerships (GWOPA), a UN-Habitat initiative, in Bonn, Germany, to discuss cooperation opportunities to support the water and sanitation sector in Sudan.
The meetings addressed the prospects of utilizing the Water Operators’ Partnerships (WOPs) mechanism, which is based on the exchange of expertise and institutional capacity building among water utilities and companies worldwide, with the aim of improving service quality and enhancing the efficiency and sustainability of operating institutions.
International water expert Dr. Ammar Abdullah told Sudanhorizon that this step is particularly important given the urgent need to rehabilitate water and sanitation infrastructure in Sudan and strengthen the capacities of national institutions responsible for providing essential services to citizens. It also offers opportunities to benefit from international expertise in the areas of technical management, operation and maintenance, institutional planning, and staff development.
Dr. Ammar emphasized the importance of human capital in this context, considering it a cornerstone of recovery. He noted that capacity building, training national personnel, and restoring institutional expertise are no less crucial than rehabilitating water and sanitation infrastructure. Both are fundamental pillars for the sustainability and improvement of services.
The visit and meeting by Ambassador Ilham reflect the growing role that Sudanese diplomacy can play in building bridges of cooperation with international organizations and development partners, and in mobilizing support for vital sectors directly impacting citizens’ lives.
