Prime Minister Heads to the United States to Participate in UN General Assembly Meetings

Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris departed today for the United States of America, leading Sudan’s delegation to the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly at the UN headquarters in New York.
The delegation accompanying the Prime Minister includes Minister of Culture, Information and Tourism Khalid Al-Ayesir, a number of advisors, and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ambassador Mohy-Eddin Salim.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to deliver Sudan’s statement before the General Assembly, in addition to holding meetings with several heads of state and government, the UN Secretary-General, as well as heads of international and regional organizations.
The Sudanese delegation will also participate in a number of side events on the margins of the General Assembly, including, but not limited to: the annual ministerial meeting of the Least Developed Countries Group, the senior officials’ meeting of the G77 and China, the coordination meeting of OIC member states, the Arab consultative meeting, the first bilateral summit for a sustainable global economy, as well as the meeting on accelerating efforts to prevent non-communicable diseases in humanitarian fragility settings, among other events.
Moreover, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation will hold several meetings with his counterparts and representatives of international and regional organizations.
This participation represents a significant opportunity for Sudan’s delegation to shed light on the developments in Sudan and the grave human rights violations committed by the rebel Rapid Support Forces militia, with the involvement of mercenaries from many countries, including Colombia.
The Prime Minister was seen off at Port Sudan International Airport by the Minister of Youth and Sports and the Minister of Communications and Digital Transformation.
