TSC Vice President Meets EU Ambassador, Reaffirms Sudan’s Position on Berlin Conference

Vice President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Commander Malik Agar met with the European Union Ambassador to Sudan, Wolfram Vetter, at his office on Wednesday, in the presence of the Director of the European Directorate at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
The meeting reviewed the Sudanese government’s rejection of the Berlin conference, held without its participation, noting that it effectively replicates the Paris and London conferences. TSC Vice President Agar affirmed that the government does not oppose constructive engagement with international initiatives, but stressed that such efforts must align with the aspirations of the Sudanese people and reflect proposals already put forward by the government to achieve security and stability in the country. On the humanitarian front, Agar reaffirmed the government’s commitment to facilitating the work of humanitarian organizations operating in Sudan, pointing to the extension of operations at the Adre border crossing along the Sudan–Chad frontier until next June. He further stated that the government is seeking increased support for the large-scale voluntary returns currently underway, as well as assistance in rebuilding civilian institutions affected by the war—measures he said would help encourage citizens to resume normal life.
For his part, the European Union Ambassador expressed readiness to engage with the Sudanese government and maintain communication efforts aimed at reaching a lasting peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict.

Prime Minister Meets Secretary-General of Arab Research Councils Union as Regional Office Reopens in Khartoum

In line with the state’s focus on supporting scientific research and strengthening its role in advancing development, Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris met Wednesday with the Secretary-General of the Arab Union of Scientific Research Councils, Dr. Abdelmajid Benamara, in the presence of Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Modawi Ahmed Musa.
Following the meeting, Dr. Benamara announced in a press statement the reopening of the union’s regional office in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, noting that the organization is among the first Arab and international bodies to resume operations in the city after the exceptional circumstances the country has recently faced.
The Secretary-General expressed appreciation for the efforts of Sudan’s Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, along with all entities that contributed to creating conducive conditions for the relaunch of the regional office’s activities.

Finance Minister, Swiss Envoy Review Sudan’s Economic and Humanitarian Situation

Minister of Finance Dr. Gebreil Ibrahim met in Khartoum on Wednesday with a visiting Swiss delegation led by Ambassador Anders Baum, accompanied by the Swiss Envoy to the Horn of Africa, Ambassador Silvan Stier, and their delegation.

During the meeting, the finance minister briefed the Swiss side on the overall economic and humanitarian situation in the country, outlining the ministry’s ongoing efforts to achieve economic stability. He identified the restoration of security, the return of Sudanese refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs), infrastructure rehabilitation, and post-war reconstruction as top national priorities.
Dr. Ibrahim called on Switzerland, alongside the international community and regional and global development and financing institutions, to support Sudan’s reconstruction efforts and contribute to advancing economic development. Discussions also covered a range of key issues, including the government’s efforts to achieve peace, the protection of civilians, the opening of humanitarian corridors, the Sudanese national dialogue process, and prospects for expanding bilateral economic cooperation.
For his part, Ambassador Anders Baum affirmed his country’s readiness to provide technical support aimed at advancing peace and stability in Sudan.

TSC President and Sultan Oman Hold Talks in Muscat on Bilateral Cooperation and Regional Challenges

President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, arrived on Tuesday in Muscat, the capital of the Sultanate of Oman, on an official visit. He was received at Al-Baraka Palace by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, Sultan of Oman.
The two sides held an official session of talks that addressed the deep-rooted fraternal relations between the two brotherly countries and ways to enhance and develop cooperation across various fields in a manner that serves their mutual interests.
The talks also reviewed regional developments amid rising tensions, in addition to issues of common concern, underscoring the importance of strengthening security and stability at both regional and international levels.
General Al-Burhan reaffirmed Sudan’s firm position in support of the stability and sovereignty of the Sultanate of Oman and the brotherly Gulf states under the current circumstances, stressing Sudan’s condemnation and rejection of Iranian attacks on Gulf Cooperation Council countries.

The TSC President expressed his appreciation for the warm reception and hospitality, commending Oman’s pivotal role in supporting Sudan and highlighting the strong historical ties between the two nations. He affirmed Sudan’s keenness to further strengthen and expand frameworks of joint cooperation to meet the aspirations of both peoples. He also expressed his gratitude to the government and people of Oman for the generous hospitality extended to Sudanese nationals who sought refuge in the Sultanate due to the war.
For his part, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik welcomed the visit of the TSC President, praising the distinguished Sudanese-Omani relations and the historic bonds of brotherhood between the two peoples. He affirmed the Sultanate’s commitment to strengthening existing cooperation frameworks and opening new avenues for bilateral engagement in the coming period, expressing appreciation for Sudan’s supportive stance toward the stability and sovereignty of Gulf states.
Both sides agreed to continue consultation and coordination across all fields to achieve the aspirations of the two brotherly peoples. The TSC President was accompanied during his visit by Minister of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Mohi-Eddin Salim, Director of the General Intelligence Service General Ahmed Ibrahim Mufaddal, and was joined by Sudan’s Ambassador to Oman, Ambassador Issam Awad Ahmed Metwally.

Prime Minister Meets Darfur Region Governor

Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris met on Tuesday with the Governor of Darfur Region, Minni Arko Minnawi, to discuss key and pressing issues shaped by the country’s current challenges. In a press statement, the Governor said the meeting addressed urgent humanitarian concerns and related international developments, in addition to discussing the importance of formulating a strategic vision for achieving sustainable and comprehensive peace in the coming phase.
Minnawi further noted that the meeting also covered administrative and operational aspects of implementing the Juba Peace Agreement, stressing the need to expedite the enactment of legislation governing the Darfur Regional Government in the near future.

Prime Minister Reviews Preparations for Mid-May Social Development Forum

Prime Minister Professor Kamil Idris reviewed the performance of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Welfare for the first quarter of the year.
The update came during a meeting held Tuesday afternoon in Khartoum with Minister of Human Resources and Social Welfare Dr. Mu’tasim Ahmed Salih and Undersecretary Dr. Abubakr Koko Dahiya.
In a press statement, Minister Salih said the meeting examined pathways to upgrade and expand vocational training and apprenticeship programmes. The two sides agreed to convene a national conference dedicated to advancing these sectors.
The discussions also addressed social protection priorities, with the government reaffirming its commitment to distribute large quantities of sorghum to internally displaced persons across the country.
The minister further noted that the meeting reviewed ongoing preparations for the Social Development Forum, scheduled for mid-May, as part of the government’s broader drive to strengthen social protection mechanisms nationwide.
